ScholarshipsAnnual Awards Through to the generosity of numerous alumni, the strong feelings of Brotherhood and the long-term life values that they received from their undergraduate days in the Gamma Delta Chapter at the University of Arizona, the following scholarships have been established at the Pi Kappa Alpha Educational Foundation for the benefit of our undergraduate Gamma Delta brothers. The Gamma Delta Social Leadership AwardMichael D. Duncan, a 1966 initiate of Gamma Delta has established this award to recognize and support the chapter's ongoing efforts to provide a collegiate environment. This award provides an award to the Chapter's Membership Education/ Social Relations Chairman as a scholarship for the leadership and educational efforts for the benefit of the Chapter and campus to provide a safe living environment in regard to alcohol awareness and substance abuse for its members. Mike received his Engineering degree in 1967 from the U of A but more importantly a social experience and friends for life through PIKA at Gamma Delta. This scholarship will provide an award of between $1000 -$500 for the Chapter Membership Education/ Social Relations Officer and the chapter. The Chapter President's (SMC) Endowed ScholarshipThis recently endowed scholarship is presented annually to the President of Gamma Delta Chapter. In addition to running a 100+ man chapter, as CEO his responsibilities include representing IIKA to the campus administration, the Greek and non-Greek student body and the Greater Tucson community. Brother Jim Sheely, a 1976 initiate of Gamma Delta Chapter, has generously endowed this award. Jim served Gamma Delta as an undergraduate as Secretary (SC) for two years, and as an alumnus he served as Chapter Advisor for two years and as a member of the Gamma Delta Housing Corporation for almost a decade. The Chapter President's Endowed Scholarship is in the amount of $1,000 The Gamma Delta Rush Chairman's Scholarship EndowedFunded primarily through the generous contributions of Gamma Delta alumni initiated between 1985 and 1991, this scholarship was established to annually recognize the leadership efforts needed to provide a quality program for membership recruitment at Gamma Delta Chapter. The position of Rush Chairman is vital to the ongoing success Gamma Delta has enjoyed as a leader on campus. Endowed. Additional donations to this scholarship will increase the amount of the award. The Gamma Delta Rush Chairman's Scholarship is in the amount of $500. The Gamma Delta Pledge of the Year Endowed ScholarshipThis newly established scholarship recognizes the outstanding pledge of a given year. Selection is based upon a broad range of criteria including: grades, community service, school activities and most importantly his contribution to the relationship with his Pika pledge brothers. Brother Marc Lobaugh a 1991 initiate and previous Pledge of the Year, funded this scholarship. Marc received his Bachelors in MIS at the U of A, and also served as the Gamma Delta House Manager and In House Executive. This provides for a $500 annual scholarship. The Gamma Delta Chapter Endowment FundThis endowed fund provides financial assistance to chapter officers of Gamma Delta Chapter to attend regional and national leadership conferences including regional leadership conferences, the Officers Leadership Academy and the Chapter Presidents Leadership Conference. Recipients are selected on the basis of past and future leadership qualities both within and outside the Fraternity. Over fifty loyal Gamma Delta alumni have specifically designated their contributions to this endowment. h The Gamma Delta Chapter Endowment Fund provides in excess of $750 annually to one or more undergraduate members of Gamma Delta Chapter. The Bram Govaars Endowed ScholarshipEstablished in 1989 by Gamma Delta alumnus Bram Govaars, this scholarship annually recognizes the Most Outstanding Member of Gamma Delta Chapter. While there are no specific criteria for selection, award recipients have included several Gamma Delta Chapter Presidents, a Homecoming King, several IFC Presidents, a Student Body Treasurer, and several outstanding brothers of overall quality who have used this scholarship to continue their educational endeavors on both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Brother Govaars is a 1966 initiate who received his BA-History and MBA at the U of A. He served the chapter as Alumni Chair, and on campus as Student Director of the Intramural Sports Department. The Bram Govaars Endowed Scholarship is in the amount of $600. The George L. Willcox Leadership AwardThis newly established scholarship annually recognizes the rank and file member of Gamma Delta Chapter who most notably displays leadership to the chapter, particularly in the area of membership recruitment. Brother Willcox is a 1966 initiate who earned both his BS-Finance and MBA at the U of A where he was elected to the Student Senate as both an undergraduate and graduate representative. As an undergraduate, he served Gamma Delta as Chapter Treasurer (ThC). The George L. Willcox Leadership Award is in the amount of $500.
